Inlay fillings

Inlay, meaning a glued insertion, is a transition between filling and tooth replacement. Its application is justified when the missing portion of the tooth can no longer be replaced but a crown is not yet justified. This solution merely “completes” the tooth, this way saving as much health dental material as possible. Inlays are durable, strong portions that fit well and perfectly replace any missing dental tissues. They are aesthetic, reflecting the anatomic shape of the tooth, its original colour, chewing capability and function, and will not discolour. It can be made of porcelain, gold or composite strengthened by glass fibre. After forming the cavity and taking an imprint, the dental technician will prepare the true replica of the missing part, which is then glued into the cavity by the dentist with a special method of fixing.

Onlay:

It is chosen if the chewing surface of the tooth is completely destroyed. Its material is porcelain, and its manufacturing is the same as with inlays.

Gold inlay

The only type of filling that will improve with time. Its lifespan can reach several decades. When using (chewing) with the high-content gold filling, we keep pressing the filling edge to the tooth edge, which is then more tightly fitted to the tooth, preventing secondary tooth decay. Using gold is beneficial because it does not oxidise, does not shrink, and does not react to oxygen or sulphur even at high temperatures. It is the most incorporable metal for the living organism (fully biocompatible), and has no detrimental effects; its use prevents allergic reactions.

Unfortunately, the high price of precious metals in the international market does not allow for its wide use.
